HLTAAP001 Recognise Healthy Body SystemsAssignment v1.0 (2021/01/11)Assignment QuestionsQuestion 1Describe below the function of a cell, tissue and organ and how these are interrelated.A cell is life's fundamental structural unit. Cells have variable shapes and sizes. To live and operate, cells require food, water, and oxygen. Cells have four structures- plasma membrane, cytoplasm, protoplasm & nucleus.Plasma membrane maintains cell structure and controls material input and exit. Then cellular functions and reactions are performed inside the cytoplasm.Protoplasm includes cytoplasm, nucleus, and other organelles. Finally, nucleus is the brain of thecell which controls all other functions of the cell, through multiple elements inside it.Nucleus incudes elements such as nuclear membrane, nucleolus, nucleoplasm & ChromatinNetwork. Nuclear pores enable RNA, ribosomal proteins, proteins, carbohydrates, signalingmolecules, and lipids to pass through the nuclear membrane.Tissues are a group of cells that have a similar structure, function and origin. Tissues are dividedinto four basic categories—Epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissue.Epithelial tissue forms a continuous inner and outer coating. Connective tissue joins, anchors, andsupports other bodily tissues. Squamous, Cuboidal, Columnar, and Glandular epithelia arecategorised by form and function.Connective tissue cells are embedded in an amorphous matrix, which includes cartilaginous andfatty tissues. Blood, Plasma, Bone, Cartilage, Areolar, Adipose.Muscle tissue includes contractile proteins that enable contraction and relaxation.Striated/skeletal/voluntary muscles, Unstriated/smooth/involuntary muscles, Cardiac muscles.A neurone has a cell body, cytoplasm, nucleus, dendrite, axon, and nerve terminals. It reacts tostimuli and sends electrical impulses throughout the body. This tissue forms the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. An organ consists of two or more tissues with a distinct structure and function. The heart includesall four kinds of tissue to do its job. Five important organs are among the 78 human organs. Brain, heart, lungs, kidney, liver are important organs. Skin is the biggest organ, weighing 20 pounds. In short, Human cells are life's fundamental units. Tissues are groups of cells that act together.Organs combine many tissues. Organs construct bodily systems.
