Revelation Guideline Jason Zhang Mr. Simmon CIS Bible 1/8/14 1. Revelation is the combination of three types of literature: a. Apocalypse, prophecy and letter. 2. Apocalypse: a. It always goes back to the Old Testament. Taproot is Old Testament prophetic literature, b. It is a form of literature not a direct speaking from God for prophets. c. It is presented in the form of visions and dreams, and its language is cryptic and symbolic. d. It is usually in the forms of fantasy rather than reality. e. It is very formally stylized. It is carefully arranged, often numbered sets. 3. Prophecy: a. It is the prophetic word to the church. It is not retelling the word of God. 4. Revelation as Epistle a. It has an occasional reason for writing like other Epistle (letter) 5. Exegesis: a. The meaning is what he intended the meaning to be. b. Analogy of Scripture: c. Suggestion: i. Sensitivity to those imagery. ii. Apocalyptic imagery has several kinds.
