This Family Business scenario introduces Jane, Eddie, Greg and Brad who are the stakeholders. Jane’s role as the office manager is to meet performance guidelines, support the structure of the company, motivate/manage the employees and maintain a productive work environment. Brad the Owner’s responsibilities includes insuring that the business operates effectively while remaining profitable, and to insure that the employees have the resources, environment and materials they need in order to be successful. Eddie’s role as the General Manager is to communicate the aspirations and standards of the company, to make decisions that will ensure that the business prospers and also that the proper procedures/protocols are being followed across the board. Greg’s role as the Service technician is to perform the duties assigned to him for the benefit of the business and at the same time follow all company procedures and policies. After three months of employment with R&S Electronics, Jane notices that Greg seems to be doing a much better job than most of the other employees in the company and overhearing Brad commending him, assumes it is because he is highly qualified and can work rapidly. Incidentally, one day Jane sees Eddie handing Greg, his brother, a separate stack of work tickets after handing out work tickets to the rest of the employees. The tickets he gave Greg were higher in commission and easier than the tickets given to his fellow co-workers. Eddie threatens Jane by stating that if she tells anyone about this he will fire her. This behavior is unethical and could harm the company in the long run. Jane is left with either keeping quiet about the situation or bringing it to the attention of the company owner and quite possibly getting fired. In researching what protection Jane has if she were to make the owner aware of what has been happening, I came across C.F.R. § 1980.102 (2005), which states:
