Africa has always been colonized by the westerners or europeans. In World War II, rapid
decolonisation swept across the continent of Africa as many territories gained their
independence from European colonisation. Consumed with post-war debt, European powers
were no longer able to afford the resources needed to maintain control of their African colonies.
The Union of South Africa parliament enacts the Status of the Union Act, which declares the
country to be "a sovereign independent state". They are independent when they need to make
laws. They wanted to be an independent country because they didn’t want to experience
European rule again. The newly independent African countries succeeded in achieving
economic independence from the West because they came up with plans to help the economy,
they asked help from other countries, and giving speeches.
They came up with really good plans to help out the economy. The president of egypt says, “But
now [with nationalization] they have found a way to regain their rights. Farmers have been
turned into landowners. Factory workers have also been turned into owners, for now they take
part in the administration of their companies” (Document 1). They are going opposite than what
