Flat and Elongated Particles ASTM D-4791 Tm Boyer CM 442 Pre-Lab Purpose The purpose of this lab is to provide a standardized test to check the compliance with specifications that limit particles or to determine the relative shape characteristics of coarse aggregates which may interfere with consolidation in construction. Equipment Proportional Caliper Device – capable of measuring various ratios Balance – accurate to 0.5% of the mass of the sample Procedure Sieve sample to be tested, retrieving the material of the 3/8in or No. 4 sieve
