Just a few things regarding the exam . There will be 30 MC and T/F questions, scantrons will be provided. You will have 1 hour to finish it. The exam is closed book/notes/laptops. Cheating will not be tolerated. Also, unless you have a note from the doctor, a police report or any other valid excuse for not making it to the exam, I expect you to be present. The sample test items will be posted on Blackboard under "content". Study from the book and the slides. Things I want you to know from the book include the following (in detail, unless it states otherwise): Chapter 1: -what is organizational behavior (p. 10-11) Organizational behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness. It studies three determinants of behavior in organizations: individuals, groups, and structure. It then applies the knowledge gained about those in order to make organizations work more effectively. To sum up, OB is the study of what people do in an organization and how their behavior affects the organization’s performance. -disciplines that contribute to the field of OB (14-15) Psychology seeks to measure, explain, and sometimes change the behavior of humans and other animals. Social Psychology blends concepts from both psychology and sociology to focus on peoples’ influence on one another. Sociology studies people in relation to their social environment or culture. Anthropology is the study of societies to learn about human beings and their activities. -absolutes/contingency variables (15-16) contingency variables – Situational factors: variables that moderate the relationship between two or more variables.
