MUS 2663 June 25, 2007 Listening Assignment #3 The CD I choose is Birth of the Cool by Miles Davis. The CD was originally released in January 21, 1949 but the original recording was remastered and released in January 9, 2001 by Blue Note Records. The CD consisted of 12 tracked entitled “Move,” “Jeru,” “Moon Dreams,” “Venus De Milo,” “Budo,” “Deception,” “Godchild,” “Boplicity,” “Rocker,” “Israel,” “Rouge,” and “Darn That Dream.” Birth of the Cool was extremely melodic and seemed to be one of the more brilliant pieces of work Davis has composed. This remastered disc has impeccable sound quality, it does not even sound remastered. The performers include Miles Davis (Trumpet and Lead), Kai Winding, J.J. Johnson on trombone, Junior Collins and Sandy Siegelstein on the French horn, John Barber (tuba), Lee Konitz (alto sax), Gerry Mulligan (baritone sax), Al Haig and John
