Buddy Holly was a famous singer who was the lead singer of the crickets rock group in the 1950’s. On February 3, 1959 he was killed in a plane crash with the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. Later in 1971 the hit song American Pie refers to his death with the line “ ...the day the music died.” Buddy Holly

Ben Hur Ben Hur was a Movie Starring Charlton Heston. It was set around the time of christ. A review When a Jewish prince is betrayed and sent into slavery by a Roman friend, he regains his freedom and comes back for revenge.

Space Monkey There were only two of the many monkeys sent to space to survive. Miss Baker was a squirrel monkey and Able was a Rhesus monkey. They went into space on May 28, 1959.

Mafia The Mafia leaders went to upstate New York to discuss better organization. The local Police got suspicious when cars from all over the us started to show up. They set up roadblocks and detained SIxty of the mafia's top guys.

Hula Hoops Hula hooping became a national fad in the 1950’s. Celebrities were also big into hula hooping. The hula hoop we see today was based off of stories told to two men by an aussie. The two men (Richard Knerr and Arthur “Spud” Melin) made them in there garage and sold over one hundred hoops in the first year at the coast of $1.98 a hoop.
