Assignment: After reading the material on how Psychologists conduct research, imagine you are a research Psychologist who wants to know more about the relationship between chewing gum while studying and grades on a test for college students. How might you use each of the methods below to study that issue? For this assignment; 1) create a brief study using each design, and 2) discuss what the advantages and disadvantages are for each method? You are not being asked to actually conduct this experiment, but rather discuss how you could use each method. a. Survey Method b. Naturalistic Observation c. Case Study d. Experimental Method (Use a dependent and independent variable). First off I would make a survey method that would look like this: Where do you study Bedroom kitchen library anywhere What do you do while studying Chew gum Eat chips Eat crackers Drink only water What’s your noise tolerance none A little Just music Noise don’t bother you Can you chew gum while studying yes no sometimes Then give a second survey if they say yes to chewing gum while studying that looks like this: Is it a must to chew gum while studying yes no Does it affect your studying if you don’t Yes no Do you get bad grades on a test if you do not chew gum while studying Yes no The disadvantages of the survey though may not always be accurate because you do not know if they are lying on it or not.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
