Adriana Zarza Walsh Freshmen Honors Lit. 10 June 2014 Final Portfolio Reflection I believe that reading is an essential aspect of developing one’s writings techniques and personally, my critical reading habits have been challenged in this course. The reading assignments are what the class revolves around and I have noticed that I could not continue to read the assignments in the same environment as I would to a book I would read on my own time at the end of the day. The reading assignments were done in a studious setting from then on. That habit was immediately cut short once I realized how rich in context and analysis the books or novels were. My reading critiques were also sharpened by the format in which I took notes. The notes I structured in the past left out some vital areas of analysis to look into. For example, references to outside sources were not something I always had to look out for. Before this year, my notes revolved primarily around plot and themes.
