PLA #9 Writing Assignment A I think the way someone acts determines whether they are “normal” or “abnormal.” For example, a person with a psychological disorder that acts out in ways that are not considered acceptable will be labeled as abnormal by others. Anyone who does not fit the characteristics of what is “normal” will be labeled as abnormal by the rest of society. Some behaviors that are considered abnormal in our society include: being moody or having unstable emotions, talking to inanimate objects or imaginary things, having multiple personalities, and many others. These behaviors and characteristics are considered abnormal because they are not what our society expects from “normal” people. They are odd behaviors, so the person is automatically classified as abnormal. Writing Assignment B Pros: 1) May give you the appearance of having certain “good” characteristics if the label you are given is a positive one. 2) When labels are correct, you can get a good idea of a person’s personality. 3) They make it possible to group people into groups with similar
