Natalie Robles Sci 102 Dr. Pamela Sperry Guest Speaker Report On Wednesday January 30 th , 2008 our class had the opportunity to meet with Dan Pearson, a biologist and the Environmental Program Manager at Burns & McDonnell. Mr. Pearson is a environmental consultant, he helped with the biological studies that supported getting permits for projects that companies were trying to complete. I found that some interesting features in this field are that you can work hands on out in the field researching wild animals and their characteristics, compared to just sitting in an office all day at a mediocre job. The least attractive part of this position is that apparently job stability is somewhat hard to come by unless you prove to your employer that you are a necessity to the company. Mr. Pearson suggested that to be successful in this profession and to obtain a good job it is very relevant to have a lot of hands on experience. He suggested internships and research opportunities. Mr. Pearson stressed that if you do not
