Paul Aquino SPCM 112 Mrs. Filter Reflection Paper April 29, 2008 Before I took SPCM 111-112, I expected that it would be just like any other high school speech class. However, after completing both classes I realize how much I actually learned. In high school, little if any memorization was required to give a speech. A student just had to go up in front of the class, read their speech and make occasional eye contact; but I realized that by doing this it took away from the effectiveness of one’s speech. It produced an unnatural speaking pattern and more likely than not inclined speakers to talk in a monotone. While I went through both courses I believe my ability to make a delivery extemporaneously finally broke out during the last unit of SPCM 112. My recognition of the importance of such speaking allowed me to produce a successful delivery, particularly in the final debate. So with all being said I believe this course has had a positive impact on my speaking skills. As for my research and writing ability, I believe both SPCM 111 and SPCM 112 have
