Emily Wade Environmental Politics 9/5/07 1/ What principles or considerations should drive environmental policy? The world’s resources such as the oceans and forest are vital. It is important that there are policies to protect these. There is a fine line between what's best for the environment and what's best for business and sometimes the two have to compromise and meet in the middle. The effect on health for both wildlife and humans should drive environmental policy. Also the cost of health should drive environmental policy. 2/What tools should be used to carry out environmental policy? Please be specific. The ESA I think is an important tool to carry out environmental policy. I think that they need to provide protection earlier on. The FWS is also very important to carry out environmental policy. I think that the EIS is a good tool because it makes sure that it’s the safest way to carry out a plan and checks with the public and the decision maker before it happens. -Park rangers
