Thick Lens: Propagation from Right-to-Left The diagram of a Nikon Nikkor-H f/2 lens is shown below. An object is placed to the right of the lens. Light propagates from the object right-to-left through the lens. Note that the lens is a retrofocus lens (principal planes are reversed). All dimensions given are in mm . It is desired to form a real image of the object such that the image is a speciFed size relative to the object (measured transverse to the axis of the optical system). The relative sizes are given below. ±or each case, calculate, showing all work, the distance of the object from the right-most glass surface. This is refered to as the “working distance.” ±or each case, calculate, showing all work, the distance of the image from the left-most glass surface. Express your answers in mm accurately to within ± 0 . 1 mm . Put your answers in the spaces provided.
