The Found Poem   find a matchbook,  a news  item, a piece of junk  mail,  notes from your  biology class  take it out of context, mix the context, pull some words or an image, fragment it in a wild way comment on the original, perhaps in satire. be playful In the found poem the poet “extends the language” (Kurt Vonnegut). IDEA:  Look through ads, travel brochures, museum brochures, textbooks for a few sentences that you can  interpret in several ways.  Break the lines in different places.  Experiment with the images and  thoughts.  Create new emphases. Marianne Moore Marianne Moore uses “found” material in her poems and “extends” the language and the metaphor. She  “finds” an image that her poem will eventually dance around and she lets the poem step out of that  image.  This is really a “found” poem danced to the second, third, fourth act.
