The negative sign indicates that the light incident from the left encounters a concave surface. The radius of curvature of the right surface is +100 mm. The positive sign indicates that the light incident from the left encounters a convex surface. The refractive index of the lens is 1.500. A vertical planar object exists to the left of the lens. The object is moved such that it is sequentially located at five different positions in this lefthand region. The dis- tances from the lens to the object are given below. A point on the object is located 50 mm above the axis of the optical system. Calculate, showing all work, the location of the image along the optical axis to the left or to the right of the lens for each of the five cases. Calculate, showing all work, the location of the image point above or below the optical axis for each of the five cases. Express your answers in mm. For the image distance, indicate whether it is left or right of the lens. For the image point, indicate whether it is above or below the optical axis.
