Pre-Lab Intro We will perform witting reaction. Especially, we will synthesize 1,4-diphenyl-1,3- butadiene from cinnamaldehyde and benzyltriphenyl-phosphonium chloride. Also, we will use commercial benzyltrophenylphosphonium chloride instead of synthesizing it ourselves. After doing reaction, we will run the TLC plate using UV light. Also, we will submit the trans, trans isomer for NMR and measure the IR and UV spectrum.
