Modularity and mental architecture 2 Question 1 Modularity Hypothesis is the essence that the mind comprises of innate neural modules or structures with different established evolutionarily developed functions. A module is categorized in between the cognitivist and the behaviorist perceptions of lower level processes. According to modularity hypothesis, the mind is composed of cognitive systems capable of performing specific information processing tasks. Cognitive system responsible for processing sensory information are domain specific. They carry out their operations autonomously compared to other cognitive systems. Understanding other people’s states of minds is done using cognitive modules. Modular systems have the following features: domain specificity, informational encapsulation, automaticity, shallow outputs, high-speed operation, innateness, inaccessibility to being aware in terms of consciousness, and fixed neural architecture.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
