Unformatted text preview: Writing Assignment #3 In her essay Boys Will Be Boys and Girls Will Not, Mariah Burton Nelson discusses the question about whether or not women will eventually outperform men- specifically in the sport of running. She tries to convince the readers that women are indeed better at sports in general than men; it just depends on what sports one looks at. She talks about the non-contact sports where professional women and professional men can compete on the same playing field; sports like auto racing, horse racing, dog sled racing, equestrian events, rifle shooting, and marathon swimmingtennis, golf, racquetball, bowling, [and] skiing (145). Nelson goes as far as to give specific examples of women in history that have outperformed men and set world records- even when competing against men directly.
