Revised Procedure In the revised experiment we will be using 3.0 mM KMnO 4 , an unknown concentration of oxalate in 7 M H 2 SO 4 and manganese(II) sulfate powder. Concentrated sulfuric acid is very corrosive so be careful not to spill any on anything. 1.3.1 Calibration of the instrument Follow the same procedure as in the lab handout, but make sure to blank the machine after every absorbance measurement. 1.3.2 Calibration curve for permanganate Follow the same procedure as in the lab handout, but make the following corrections: Add 5.0 mL of 3 mM potassium permanganate and 15 mL of de-iodized water to test tube #1. Add 4.0 mL of 3 mM potassium permanganate and 16 mL of de-iodized water to test tube #1. Add 3.0 mL of 3 mM potassium permanganate and 17 mL of de-iodized water to test tube #1. Add 2.0 mL of 3 mM potassium permanganate and 18 mL of de-iodized water to test tube #1. Add 1.0 mL of 3 mM potassium permanganate and 19 mL of de-iodized water to test tube #1.
