Leveling the economic gap is a choice. In recent discussions on “How do we solve Economic
Disparity and injustice?” a controversial issue has been the differences in how we solve it. The
government has ways in which they can help level the economic gap. Policy choices need to be
made in favor of all citizens and not just the rich. Lessening the economic gap should be an issue
we all are informed about. It affects our families and future generations.
According to the article written by Sharon Zhang, “Covid 19 relief programs prove that poverty
is a policy choice (Zhang, S.,2022) .” The stimulus packages and unemployment supplement
prove that government policy was crucial in leveling the income gap during the pandemic.
Sharon Zhang holds a Ph.D., B.A., and an M.A, in Environmental Health and science. She is a
journalist for Truthout, (a nonprofit news organization that focuses on social injustice issues).
