Being an immigrant myself, I personally believe in some part that assimilation and acculturation is necessary when moving from one country to another. Learning the language, traditions, and culture of your new country that you are moving to, or just visiting, will help you on so many levels. The transition to a new place will take a different amount of time for each individual person, depending on their age, race, and background among other things. “Adaptation includes physical, biological, and social changes. Physical changes occur because people are confronted with new physical stimuli— they eat different food, drink different water, live in different climates, and reside in different kinds of housing. When people are exposed to a new culture, they may undergo actual physical or biological changes.” Lustig, M. W., & Koester, J. (2013) The culture shock to me is the biggest problem for people who move into another culture different from their own. These people leave behind everything
