Francesco N. Mercuri Soviet Russia 0302 January 16, 2009 Analysis on Communist Manifesto The bourgeoisie is the upper class of society that controls most of what happens with the society. Bourgeoisie found their origins as serfs of the Middle Ages, which became burgesses of the earliest towns, then, eventually to bourgeoisie. Their rise in strength and power was the result of other classes not being able to compete during the Industrial Revolution. With the discovery of America and the resulting commerce that ensued between distant countries, the closed guilds that originally monopolized their markets could not compete with this new market. Soon, the manufacturing middle class was in control of the market. However, with new technology forming and ease of production increasing, demand began to rise, and the middle class could not keep up with the market. The industrial millionaires, or bourgeoisie, took over the middle class. The proletariat is the lower class of society that works for the bourgeoisie.
