Francesco Mercuri December 4, 2008 A Different Understanding To view our class as representative of freshman at Pitt or even of 18-19 year olds in America today would result in a false interpretation of those two groups. This reasoning is due to the fact that most 18-19 year olds have not been exposed to as much in depth analysis as our class has been. On that note, I will be analyzing the patterns that appear within our class of amateur film critics. The genres of the movies presented varied greatly. A full movie genre spectrum was represented, ranging from science fiction to musical. My classmates analyzed many of the technical aspects of film. Lucky Number Sleven (Paul McGuigan 2006) was shown, and the pattern on the walls and carpets was specifically analyzed. The characters were brought into focus easier while sitting in a room that had geometric designs on the carpet and walls. The actors were also dressed in straight plain patterns. Their choice of clothing contrasted to the room made it effortless to recognize them. The Boondock Saints (Troy Duffy 1999) was presented, and the editing of the film was emphasized.
