Art is such important part of everybody’s education, but for many diverse learners art is the only
ways they can communicate and let you know what they think, feel, need, or want.
Art is used for so many things; it is great tool for someone that may be hard to reach. As a form
of therapy for a child who may have had a traumatic experience, for the child who needs physical
therapy molding clay can help them build strength. Children can use art to express themselves,
instead of getting angry or mad; they can pick up a brush or pencil and create art. They are able
to release their emotions on paper.
For a child with emotional and or intellectual challenges, I would plan out an activity involving
drawing. Sitting down at a table providing sheets of paper, crayons, makers and color pencils. I
would tell the children to draw what they were feeling that day. As they were drawing I would go
around and speak to each on what they were creating and why. Making sure they are telling me,
