HW 2 Due: 10 AM Feb. 5, 2009 Select steel deck pan, concrete slab thickness, steel reinforcement and supporting joist size for a floor system given the following information: Live load 60 psf Construction live load 20 psf Construction deflection (for deck) S / 240 max Service deflection (for joist) L / 360 max Concrete slab total thickness S / 20 min Concrete is normal weight. Report dimensions and deflections in inches. Report design loads in pounds per square foot and pounds per linear foot, as appropriate. Assume that the 3-span condition applies to the steel deck. Make deck and joist selections to minimize dead weight. Report: Deck: Construction design load, Ra Deck: Service design load, Ra Steel pan designation Concrete thickness, total Concrete reinforcing steel designation Joist: Construction design load, Ra Joist: Service design load, Ra Joist designation Deflection under construction loads (deck) Deflection under service live load (joist)
