SPEECH TO ACTUATE OR POLICY SPEECH We expect that this will be your best presentation so far. You have worked on the organization of speech presentations and on your deliveries. Now you should be able to blend the two together to come up with your finest effort! Persuasive speech: Policy Speech or Speech to Actuate. 1. Pick a topic that you have some feeling about. Be willing to research both sides or all sides of the issue if it is a controversial topic The "best" topics are the ones that the audience can relate to in some way. YOU need to care about the topic and make the AUDIENCE care about the topic. You need to convince them that something SHOULD be either done, or not done. If you have a speech to actuate, you need to MOTIVATE them to take the requested action. Most, if not all, of your speeches will fit a PROBLEM/SOLUTION pattern of organization. Please pay particular attention to Monroe's Motivated Sequence of Persuasion. This will help you tremendously in helping you decide what must be included in
