SPEECH OUTLINE--ACTUATE SPEECH Abortion Rights…For Men? SUBJECT: 1. A man’s rights in abortion. 2. The lack of gender equality in laws regarding abortion. PURPOSE: To move the audience to push for “equal” rights between a man and a woman when it comes to abortion. MAIN POINTS: I. If a man wants his child to be born yet the woman wants an abortion, the man cannot legally stop her and must suffer through the demise of his child. II. If a man does want an abortion but the woman does not, the child in question will be born and the father is required by law to pay monthly child support out of his earnings until the child is of legal age. III. Men should have some legal say in the matter under the equal rights laws, and until that day men should stop paying for child support as to make law makers realize the urgency of the matter. CENTRAL IDEA: By stopping to pay child support payments, men can bring about changes in the laws that currently give men no right to choose in the matter of abortion, and either leaves them hurt financially or emotionally.

As potential future fathers men should want to be able to have some sort of say in the abortion decision-making process. Today, if a man wants his child to be born and the woman does not, the man has to suffer the pain. Today, if a man does not want his child to be born but the woman does, the man has to suffer financially. And finally today, I can tell you that the only way to change all this injustice is for every man to stop paying child support and make his voice heard. BODY MAIN POINT I: If a man wants his child to be born yet the woman wants an abortion, the man cannot legally stop her and must suffer through the demise of his child. A. Kathryn Jean Lopez, a writer for the National Review, states in her article titled “We
