DEVELOPMENTAL PLANNING WORKSHEET MAPS GOAL: I will improve my listening and personal learning skills. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: What will be different? What could someone else observe that will change? I will pick up on the need to change personal and interpersonal behavior quickly. Picking up on the main point another is trying to make will be easier. I will not cut off others in a conversation. My facial expressions will be more effective in showing my actual thoughts and feelings towards an individual or a subject matter. People will notice that my reactions to their signals are more appropriate. I will observe behaviors of others and seek feedback regarding my behavior. What will I gain by achieving the goal? What is in it for you? I will become more approachable and not come off as arrogant or impatient. Others will think more highly of me and appreciate my ability to listen, leading me to be more acceptable and generally liked by others. I will reduce number of instances that I offend others. SHORT TERM STEPS: I will take a psychology course in the fall semester to better understand non- verbal cues others may be giving me in regards to my behavior and use them as another form of feedback. STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPMENT (use at least three of the six to make your goal SMART) 1) Seek New Challenges/Projects Challenge Join a debate team. Specific Action/Time/Deadline
