SPEECH OUTLINE--INFORMATIVE SPEECH Michael Jordan and his legacy SUBJECT: 1. General subject: Michael Jordan 2. Specific subject: Road to Superstardom and his mark on the world PURPOSE: To convey information about the early years of Michael Jordan’s life all the way up until the present day and his living legacy. MAIN POINTS: I.Michael Jordan grew up leading a simple life and was not always the international super-star that every one knows him as today. II.Michael Jordan was truly a dominant force in the NBA, and one of the best players of all time. III.Even after retirement, Jordan continues to affect the game of Basketball, and society as a whole. The central idea of my speech is to inform the class about Michael Jordan. However, I will not only discuss the well-known facts about his shining NBA career, but the less known information about his child hood and just how big his fortune and legacy really are. INTRODUCTION Can one man or women truly dominate a sport? Is it possible for a person to play to well that they are on a level unknown to all other competitors? It is a widely held belief that there is all least one such person that has been unmatched in ability, intensity, and mastery of his craft. This star won six national titles and five league MVP’s before he lived for four decades. If you haven’t already guessed, the man I refer to is Michael Jordan. BODY I.Michael Jordan grew up leading a simple life, and was not always the international super- star that every one knows him as today. a. He was born on February 17 th , 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. b. Most of his life, however, was spent in North Carolina where he grew up with his family. c. Like most young boys, he played many sports, including baseball. 1
