The owners of a local diner that specializes in waffles are considering changing their waffle recipe. They would like to design a research study and collect data to determine if customers prefer their new recipe over their own recipe. (20 points) A. Research design #1: Randomly assign every customer to taste a waffle made with either the old or new recipe (i.e., each participants gets only one waffle). Ask each individual to rate the waffle that they tasted as either “good” or “not good.” (1) Does this scenario involve two independent means, two paired means, or two independent proportions? (2) Write the appropriate null and alternative hypotheses. 1. This is a research question relating a categorical variable (waffle taste from “good” to “not good” ) taken from two distinct groups (those that received old recipe waffles v. new recipe waffles).
