II A Case for Space There can many reasons why Stanley Kubrick’s film the 2001: A Space Odyssey can be crowned as with the best science fiction film ever made. It is only right to give him that, the man was a true genius when it came to his films. “You could say that Kubrick was the master; he could take any story and make it work.” he was truly a mastermind and man ahead of his time. The film was nominated 15 times and won 6 awards, and one of those was including the best director award to Stanley Kubrick. The movie opened up the doors for other Sci-Fi films such as Star Wars. The unbelievable fact about is; that Star Wars opened the doors for movies also but if was not for 2001: A Space Odyssey most Sci-Fi movies would not have existed or even come to thought. So that proves that is 2001: A Space Odyssey alone is the best movie in topic of the best Sci-Fi movie ever. Stanley Kubrick is easily one of the best directors of his time. Kubrick thought 3 steps ahead of everyone else, he was always ahead of what he was working on. He was a visionary and how he directed his movies were very practical. As Renata once said “most of Kubrick's films were done in one-point perspective, which was done to make sure you were looking at what Kubrick wanted you to look at”. Gary Lockwood (Frank Poole) once stated that “His agent called him and told him about the movie and asked Stanley Kubrick how much he had to pay him to be on the film”.
