Date: May 7, 2007 To: Professor Perez and AEM 220 TAs Subject: Wendy’s International, Inc. To increase viability in the short term the company has put in place a new advertising campaign scheduled to be released in the very near future. “Do what tastes right” has not been as popular as campaigns such as “I’m Lovin’ It” from McDonalds. Their new campaign should immediately increase brand awareness which will lead to greater sales in the short term. Although the revenue has decreased since 2005, the first quarter revenue of 2006 increased by 2%. This could have been the short term result of creating more favorable food costs as well as changing the product mix to higher-margin products such as the Frescata. Wendy’s looks like it may turnaround after the past several years of difficulty.
