CLAVICHORD The Clavichord was a European stringed keyboard instrument It was mainly used as a practice instrument, as it wasn’t loud enough to be heard in larger performances Produces sounds by striking brass or iron strings with small metal blades Total weight varied depending on size, which was from 4 feet to 7 feet Approximate value is unknown, but considering they are still built and used in the modern era, values are low because it’s not rare

The Clavichord construction: Strings were usually made of brass The action of the clavichord is unique among all keyboard instruments It has been referred to as one of the most intimate of keyboard instruments due to the connection between the sound and the players hands
