Sustainable Development Lesson 8, Part 2 Over the last few years there has been a lot of talk over whether or not Global Warming exists and how it is affecting out environment. Over the last century, there is a belief that the world’s average temperature has risen about 1 degree due to the increase of greenhouse gas emissions. While 1 degree seems minute and relatively harmless, this subtle increase in temperature enables serious side effects. Many of these gases are produces by everyday human activity of burning fossil fuels such as gas, oil and coal. All of these fuels support and run major industries that humans rely on in their lives. Burning of these fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide, which when released into the atmosphere creates something called the greenhouse effect, which changes global climates and raised the world’s temperatures. Many scientists believe that the effects of global warming are negatively affecting the world we live in and without immediate change it might be too late. These scientists supply a number of steps and way in which we can slow down or completely stop the destruction of global warming. However, some scientists on the other
