Hasmi Patel Dr. Bregman Short paper #2 10/05/08 Murder and Serenity In Nuland’s book, How We Die , he states the various ways in which death can occur and how we tend to feel in those states. There is one chapter in which he states how murder can be serene and peaceful. He explains in detail how being brutally murdered can still seem as if no pain or ache is being felt. The reasons for this occurrence are not quite clear, but can be explained through medical terms or psychological perspectives. Nuland gives a good example of a murder in which the victim showed no signs of shock on her face. He describes the brutal murder of a little girl named >>>>.
