Unformatted text preview: Professional Licensure and Ethics in Civil Engineering Practice CE 101 FE or EIT Exam Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Exam Prepared by by the National Council of Examiners for Civil Engineering and Surveying Administered by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (http://www.pels.ca.gov/) First step required towards becoming a licensed engineer Closed-book exam One-day exam (General and Civil) FE or EIT Exam Requirements Completed 3 years of course work in a Board-approved engineering curriculum (any curriculum approved by the Engineering Accreditation Commission [EAC] of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology [ABET]). Three years or more of engineering-related work experience anywhere in the world. AND Never have been convicted of a crime substantially related to the practice of engineering. CE Exams Professional Engineer (Civil) Exam Prepared and administered by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors ( http://www.pels.ca.gov/) Practice act (Practice act means that only a person appropriately licensed with the Board may practice or offer to practice these branches of engineering ) Two-day open-book exams Covers three areas: General Seismic Surveying Engineering registration is a privilege and not a right.
