Acid Conj. Base o Conjugate bases come in to play here o There is always something counteracting the acid or the base o If there is an acid on one side, there will be a conjugate acid on the other side o The difference between an acid and its conjugate is a proton. o HCO 3 - (aq) + H 2 O(l) H 2 CO 3 (aq) + OH - (aq) o Base Acid Conj. Acid Conj. Base o Be able to identify the base, acid, conjugate base, and conjugate acid
