Power on 1. The green power button is located on the upper left side of the controller If the machine fails to start it may indicate that it has been locked out, or that the room emergency stop has been activated. Seek one of the Lab Staff for assistance 2. Reset the Emergency Stop 3. Reset the Alarms Twist it to the right and it will pop out (Pulling the button out will cause it to fail prematurely!) The emergency stop switch is located below the power buttons Press the RESET button to clear each alarm If the Alarms are not displayed press the ALARM MESGS button You will need to reset each alarm normally at startup there will be one or two. Send to home position The HAAS machines use Servo-motors and ball screws to achieve linear motion on the x, y, and z axis. The controllers use rotary encoders to monitor the angular motion of the servo motors and calculate the linear position of the stages based on the pitch of the ball screws. When turned on the controller does not know the location of the stages. It is necessary to drive each stage to it’s home position where it trips a limit switch telling the controller where the stage is.
