Andres Lozano Randy Bayas Randy Bayas 2 The Arab World Institute, known in French as Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA), is located in Paris, France just down the street form Notre-Dame. Jean Nouvel and the Architecture Studio were selected as the architects to bring the Institut du Monde Arabe’s ideas to the 20 th century. Commencement of the building began in 1981 and was finished Nov. of 1988. The address is Rue de Fossses Saint-Bernard . With function and form in mind, the building houses: a library and documentation center with a capacity of over 100,000 books, a museum (5,000 sq. meters), a series of offices and meeting rooms distributed between the first and eighth floor, a conference room on the ninth floor, and also a cafeteria and terrace on the ninth floor.
