To study Native American Architecture and Place means to open yourself up to differing impressions and interpretations of the world than you may be familiar with, or been taught This means a lateral kind of thinking that allows one to be able to examine one’s own culture critically as one ‘way’ among other simultaneous realities This requires a suspension of objectivity and willingness to consider other avenues of the way the world works or could work

abram in spell of the sensuous suggests: that the land is alive - it ‘speaks’ in the sense of discernable processes that the relationship between culture and landscape is thus of two intertwined processes that when we engage the land we inevitably begin calling out names (attributes) and that these forces and names are real as entities to many ‘pre-scientific’/traditional groups so… one way to reveal place is through language
