Derrick Palecek Essay #1 Ender’s Mind of War Orson Scott Card’s novel , Ender’s Game , involves a young boy who , ultimately , evolves into the greatest military space commander of all time . His techniques of fighting and strategies used throughout the novel rival those found in the 6 th century book , Art of War , by Sun Tzu . When comparing Ender’s Game to Art of War , one can see very many similarities between the two . Ender , the main character , uses many strategies , calculations , formations , maneuvers and attacks found in Art of War . “One who knows how to unite upper and lower ranks in purpose will be victorious;” is one of the planning strategies in Art of War . Ender uses this throughout the book . Mostly he uses it when he obtains his own army to command , the Dragon army . The Dragon Army is new and is full of people of all ranks , from new , young soldiers called Launchies to veterans that have been there many years . Ender takes this new army of his and unites them
