HRIM Notes November 3, 2008 Chapter 15 - Management – A new way of thinking Crossing over to a new job Supervisor/Manager = to over see the work of others; designing and organizing the work of others. Supervise – a verb Just as we investigated the word “hospitality” we have to develop a personal definition of supervision and managing. Jot down some of your initial impressions of the word “supervise/ manage.” o To me, supervising means over seeing what is going on in the place of work. It also means that you must be on call at any given time that there may be a problem. You are in charge of everyone below you.
