Citing in MLA Format: The Basics So here’s the run down… Quoting Quotes shouldn’t make up the majority of your essay. You can switch out some quotes and paraphrase or summarize. Just make sure you still cite. Use the information just make it sound like your talking to a friend about the information and write that down. Then dress it up in some pretty words. If you really want to quote, make sure you have the right intro to the quote. EXAMPLE: Kin Shire described his belifs in his 1956 biographry, “Pigs don’t taste good, man.”
