WRTG 1150 4/7/08 Answers to “Doves” 1. You learn that Francine is sad, dry and dull. When she walks to the pet store with a raincoat on, it shows that the weather is bleak and bleary. This might represent the feelings of Francine at the moment. The raincoat is symbolic of her personality that she keeps wrapped up. 2. Francine is attracted to the doves due to their quiet personality. They are shy and easily content, just like Francine. They are quite different from the parrot, which is obtrusive and loud. 3. The parrot is saying, “Oh amigo” (710), which is loud and obnoxious and not the personality that Francine is looking for. This literally means, “Oh friend”, but Francine is looking for something less obtrusive. It may also represent that Francine is not looking for anything fancy and new, but rather something similar to her own personality. 4. The significance of paragraph 6 is that Francine is not going to do much to initiate a relationship with the Doves and they are not willing to take the first step either.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
