Lab 4: Coronal view Sheep Brain Dissection: Again, looking at internal structures of the brain, we will make 5 coronal cuts on your  group’s sheep brain.  These coronal cuts are labeled C, E, G, H, and I on page 28 of  your lab manual. - C : Caudal to the olfactory bulbs - E : Through the optic chiasm - G : Through the mammillary body - H : Through the cerebral peduncle - I : Through the rostral pons Identification: Coronal Cut C  (p. 31 of lab manual and slide 20 of http://academic.uofs.edu... website) Corpus Callosum  (lab 2) Putamen  (lab 3) Lateral Olfactory Tract  (lab 1) Caudate Nucleus  (lab 3) Lateral Ventricle  (lab 2) Internal Capsule  - series of axons that relay information, mostly sensory from the  thalamus to the cerebral cortex.  The fibers course upwards and pass through  the nuclei of the basal ganglia.  As the move up towards the cortex, they fan out
