Week 9 – Production process – The Lady Eve 02/03/2009 03:54:00 Production Process (from lecture, Bordwell & Thompson and Casper &  Edwards), examples from "The Lady Eve" and other relevant films —  The Lady Eve Opening title sequence = snake Apple Knocking Henry Fonda over, trips him, drops things on his head Her perfume intoxicates him Thematics = negative attitude toward love.  Stylization (comedy)   not a real life world; “formally stylized” Character – she is smart, she is a thief, she is a bitch (manipulative) Goal- to punish him She doesn’t reveal the truth at the end; he is choosing to cheat on his wife.  This  is a commentary on marriage: men are fickle, but women are gold-diggers Adam and Eve: women are manipulative He gives her the same speech at the end and she finishes it half way. Her narrating the event = knowledgeable and she understands “the game”  “The Game” – cards; gambling; love—is it real?
