Insects and Pollination   Goal Gain an appreciation for the importance of insects in plant pollination  and an understanding of the process of pollination and how it can be  managed in agricultural situations.  Learning Objectives Name some U.S. crops that are insect-pollinated and explain why  these crops are important. Explain the pollination process and/or sketch the process.  List at least four different insect Orders that pollinate plants and give  examples of each.  Explain the impact Tracheal and Varroa mites have had on honey  bee populations. Briefly describe or draw/label the life cycles of each  mite pest.  Name some adaptations plants and insects have evolved for  successful pollination.  Describe how honey bees are adapted for collecting pollen.    Study Questions 1.
