Unformatted text preview: Part Documentation GE101 Engineering Graphics and Design Parametric Modeling Files/Modes Part – used to create individual parts made of the same material Drawing – used to create 2D drawings from a 3D model Assembly – used to link multiple parts into assemblies or sub­assemblies Presentation – used to create exploded assembly drawings and parts list Concurrent Engineering Model Data Associativity Associativity refers to links set up between the 3D CAD database and supporting applications Changes in model reflected in supporting applications Unidirectional change in model reflected in support application, but not vice versa Bidirectional changes in either model or support application data will affect the other Documentation Drawings 2D drawings derived from 3D model Model­drawing link can either be: unidirectional (change model drawing changes) bidirectional (change drawing model changes, and vice versa) Drawing Views Base view (usually Front) Other views derived from base view Set scale Views include principal, isometric, auxiliary, section views Dependent on base view Drawing Annotations ­ 1 Dimensions Parametric (model) dimensions can be displayed Change parametric dimension Can also add nonparametric (reference) dimensions on drawing model geometry changes (if bidirectional) Drawing Annotations ­ 2 Other Centerlines, Center Marks Hole / Thread notes Surface texture symbols Welding symbols Parts List Balloons Part Documentation ...
